We are proud to announce that our breakthrough innovation in highly integrated silicon photonics for near-package optics (NPO) connectivity in hyperscale AI cluster performance has been distinguished among the best in the industry by the esteemed 2026 Lightwave Innovation Reviews. A panel of judges, comprised of experts from the optical communications and broadband communities, awarded the NPC50503 1.6T NPO chiplet with OSPic™ optical signal processor with the 4.0 excellence rating honoree status.
Lightwave Editor-In-Chief Sean Buckley expressed his congratulations, stating, “On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate NewPhotonics on achieving a well-deserved honoree status. This competitive program enables Lightwave to showcase and applaud the most innovative products, projects, technologies, and programs that significantly impact the industry.”
The rating recognition quickly followed last month’s market introduction of our pragmatic and industry-first 1.6T NPO laser integrated transmitter with our proprietary optical engine. The PIC solution made to ease the transition from pluggables to co-packaged optics is disruptive for its serviceable NPO environment at reduced power consumption and interoperability in urgent demand for AI-era hyperscaler expansion underway.
As shared in last month’s product introduction, AI systems are pushing 200Gbps per lane and beyond making laser-integrated silicon photonics advantages such as lower power, signal integrity, and operational control highly valuable. Our modular co-packaged solution in a serviceable small form-factor package enters the market at a crucial time to address AI-driven scaling and performance barriers.
The NPC50503 1.6T NPO transmitter will be one of several new PIC innovations showcased in our private demo area at the Optical and Fiber Communications (OFC) conference in Los Angeles in March. You can discover more about our all-optical connectivity advantage and set up a meeting in L.A. here.
